Nina\'s Fight With Cancer

Donation protected
Please help to support me in my fight with Cancer.

I was diagnosed for the first time in October 2009 with Hodgkin\'s Lymphoma. Since then it hasn\'t gotten much better...
In February 2010, I went into remission after having 5 months of Chemotherapy.
Only a couple of months later during my first follow up appointment, the CT scan showed that a mass on my right kidney had increased largely in size. After 2 renal biopsies, I was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma and had my right kidney removed completely by Laparoscopic Nephrectomy on August 13, 2010.
Then in December 2010, during another follow up appointment, my Oncologist found that one of the areas where the lymphoma had been originally, was showing again on the PET scan... Not good.
This caused me to go for another biopsy which proved that the mass was Hodgkin\'s . It had recurred in less than a year.

After multiple doctrors appointments, it was decided  that we were going to go ahead with a bone marrow transplant (BMT).  This brings us to today...

After having some diagnostic tests and several rounds of chemotherapy, the doctors will collect stem cells from my body and freeze them - give me high dose chemotherapy - and then they will replace the stem cells into my body. It can take anywhere from 6 months to a year before my immune system will be back to normal and I can go on with my life. Until then I won\'t be working or able to be out doing regular daily activities - Only back and forth from the hospital to home.
By the end of March I will be admitted into the hospital where I will stay for a minimum of 3 weeks.

Unfortunately because I won\'t be able to work and I was denied long term disability by my insurance company (because I had a pre-existing condition), I will need some assistance financially to get through this.
Your donations will help to pay for many things during the course of my treatment. These things include gas money to and from the hospital; parking at the hospital; wigs, for when I lose my hair; dental work not covered by my regular benefits that I need done before I can have the transplant (to avoid any chance infection); medications, and other general expenses that I can\'t cover on my own.

It\'s not going to be fun, but it is what it is and I\'ll be just fine!

I just want to thank everyone for your continued support! I love you all!

Nina xoxo
