Nicole was hit by a car while walking across the street in Portland on Sunday, September 3rd. She is in the hospital due to a Traumatic Brain Injury, cracked vertebra, and damaged artery in her neck. She is disoriented and confused. Her medical needs and care are going to be great.
She is expected to remain in the hospital through this week but will possibly be able to go home next week. At home, her road to recovery will include a great deal of rest to allow her brain to recover fully. At this time a treatment plan has not been set but will probably include a full range of therapy and rehabilitation.
Nicole will not be able to go back to work for quite some time. She is going to need all of our support financially and emotionally. We are seeking to raise money to pay for her medical bills and three months of living expenses to get her through this terrible time.
Nicole graduated from the University of Oregon in 2007, with a degree in English Literature. Her dream is to go to graduate school and study social work and mental counseling, so she can help people. She is making this dream possible by working as a bartender in SE Portland. We have visited her in the hospital, and she is stressed about missing her shifts. We would like to help take away some of her fears, and just help her focus on healing right now.
Nicole is a truly kind person that everyone should get to know. She is the proud caretaker of two kittens She loves to read and write. Although, her greatest passion right now is cheering for the Seattle Seahawks every Sunday.
