Nevaeh's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
This is Nevaeh Shelby Lynn Bruner, a beautiful, little five-year-old girl. In November of 2013, while at Niswonger Children’s Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee, Nevaeh was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. Aplastic Anemia is a blood disorder in which the body's bone marrow doesn't make enough new blood cells. Nevaeh has already endured many procedures including surgery, transfusions, chemotherapy treatments and radiation. She is currently taking oral chemotherapy and having blood transfusions as needed.
Currently, Nevaeh and her extended family are working with the doctors at St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee to plan a bone-marrow transplant. The bone-marrow transplant is the only possible cure for Aplastic Anemia. Two bone-marrow donor matches have been identified. The doctors are preparing Nevaeh for the transplant by slowly weaning her from the oral chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the chemo process itself is taking its toll on her little body as it is causing her kidneys and other organs to not function properly.
Before Nevaeh was diagnosed with this, she was living with both her mother and father. Her father has since left the family and has not been in contact with Nevaeh since. Her mother is not currently in Nevaeh’s life because she has developed an addiction problem. Nevaeh and her two little brothers were placed in the care of Nevaeh’s grandmother and great-grandmother by Social Services. However, Nevaeh’s great-aunt, Pam Troxel Buchanan, has temporary custody of Nevaeh now and is caring for her during this time of extraordinary medical need. Pam will go with Nevaeh to St. Jude’s for the bone marrow transplant in approximately four months. It will take approximately another four months after the transplant before Nevaeh can leave the hospital setting.
Pam currently works full-time and requires a family medical leave of absence without pay from her job in order to be with Nevaeh at St. Jude’s. As you know, the bills will not stop during her planned four month absence from work. Pam will need financial assistance to help cover living expenses, including utility bills and rent in order to keep her home in Virginia while she is gone with Nevaeh to St. Jude’s.

Please help this beautiful little girl to live and help her struggling extended family to be there for her at St. Jude’s. Upon completion of the transplant, any monies left over will be donated to St. Jude’s Hospital.
