AZ 3rd Graders Living in Poverty

My daughter is a first year teacher from Minnesota who recently moved to Arizona.  She turned down 3 teaching jobs in better funded schools to follow her calling to be an urban educator in a low income neighborhood.  She will be teaching 3rd grade in a 100% "Title 1" school.  This designiation is reserved for schools that serve low income communities and is exactly what she was looking for.  This means all of her students are living in poverty. These students come from great famlies, but sometimes need some extra help to get by - so all meals are provided for them. This also means that most students are unable to afford school supplies. She cares about her students, and the education they deserve, so she needs to buy most of the supplies for them as well as what is needed for the classroom.

Her students and their families are unique because they come from ALL over the world. They have a high refugee population, and a high number come from places like Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Mexico. There are also a number of homeless students, or students who live in overcrowded homes.  Many are still learning the English language and US culture. These kids' favorite place is school, and they deserve a clean, and organized place to go to for 8 hours of the day!

As she gets ready for the school year, as a new teacher in a Title 1 school, she needs a little help.  Her goal is for these kids to get the SAME (if not better!) education as any other 3rd grader living in the United State. This means she needs to provide notebooks, folders, pencils, markers, glue, kleenex, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, paper, and books for 32 students! The money recieved will be used ONLY for school supplies, and classroom needs.

My daughter has access to this site & email used, and will recieve the funds for her classroom this way. She thanks you very much for all your generosity.
