Expanding Nenriki Therapy

OUR STORY:
After a 5 year career in massage therapy, owner Faith E. Smash, LMT decided to officially plant roots to begin building her reputation and brand. In February 2013 she was blessed with an opportunity to work semi-independently while sharing space with a local esthetician. Within her time there she was able to build a solid reputation but after some learning experiences she soon realized Nenriki Therapy (named in honor of her parents’ wishes to name her business after her. Nenriki means Faith in Japanese) could not grow beyond the brand that superseded her.
By November 2013 we found the perfect location in Northvale, NJ. It was just the right size for a budding business to develop. Essentially starting from scratch with a handful of clients, we stepped out on FAITH, signed the lease and officially opened our doors in February 2014. By June our schedule was fully booked 2-3 weeks out and decided to expand by hiring an additional therapist in September.

We are now approaching our 1 year anniversary and our vision and clients’ needs have expanded. Almost by divine guidance we’ve come across a new location that will allow Nenriki Therapy to grow. Our goal is to have a space with 3 session rooms and a space for classes by late spring/ early summer.
The “Issue”: CONSTRUCTION!!! The space we found gives us room to do exactly what we're looking to do. It's a bit of a mild fixer upper and in need of some TLC (walls, doors, floors and paint)This is where we’re asking for the help of our supporters (family, friends, clients and future clients). As we are not seeking monetary “favors” or outright donations (although those are also helpful and appreciated), every contribution has a service or product associated based on incremental denominations (see below for details).

By combining science and art by way of massage we intend to help our clients bridge the gap between the mind and body.
Our Mission:
Our mission is to assist in improving our clients’ muscular health. We believe through therapeutic massage we can begin to perfect the art of balancing our mind/body awareness in order to improve our physical health and performance. We are dedicated to working with our clients to promote their education and participation in developing their daily muscular self care practices.
THE EXPANSION:
Our goal is to provide a facility that can encompass all that Nenriki Therapy is about.
Mind/Body Awareness: By providing a space for workshops that help educate clients on how to incorporate safe and productive self care practices. With additional space we can provide detailed explanation or demonstration of muscle health habits (i.e. stretching, diet, exercise and postural habits) we will be able to better prepare our clients to expand the results of their massage sessions.
Availability: Having 2 additional session rooms will allow for more availability. As we know, sometimes we need a massage RIGHT NOW but unfortunately (and fortunately) our schedule has been known to be fully booked one month or more in advance. This will offer our clients a better chance at scheduling quickly and more frequently. Not to mention the ability for our clients to share their experience with a loved one or two by scheduling the same time slot.
Spotlighting Community, Small Business and Local Artists: If there is nothing else that Nenriki Therapy enjoys most, it’s the ability to give back and support local fellow entrepreneurs, artists and community endeavors. We believe that a strong community is driven by small businesses and the people who run them. And where’s the fun in appreciating beautiful art and not get to chat with the creative mind behind it?! (Loads of surprises await in the last statement)
FUNDING:
Being an advocate for low debt/debt free lifestyle (personal and business), we opted for a Go Fund Me campaign. The less debt we start the expansion with, the more funds we will have available for working capital to meet client's requests as our business grows.
WHERE THE FUNDS WILL GO:
Move in deposit, renovations, furnishing 2 treatment rooms, inventory, supplies for classes/events and a small buffer for first year expenses.
