Hello. My brother-in-law Nathanael Manzer was in a motorcycle accident on June 2, 2017, when someone pulled out in front of him. He was sent by helicopter to Upstate Medical where he had 2 surgeries and remained for 7 weeks. He broke 14 ribs, his sternum, shattered his left shoulder and arm, fractured bones in his neck and crushed his spinal cord. They placed a cage of screws and rods around his spinal cord to protect it and let it heal. He is recovering well, but is now paralyzed from the waist down. It will be a lone road to recovery.
He came home from the hospital on July 21st in a wheelchair. They made renovations to their home to make getting in and out of his bedroom easier for him, but they were unable to make the bathroom accessible, because the door needed to be widened and they are unable to use the lift to get him into the tub for a shower. The washer and dryer are in the basement and life would be a lot easier if it was moved upstairs for easier access and to keep up on the constant laundry.
My family needs your help. Danielle and Nate have started to come into many expenses. Hospital bills are coming in, he is being fitted for his permanent wheelchair, insurance is covering most, but one of the important items he needs on this wheelchair will cost $2000-$3000 out of pocket. They also need a lift to carry the electronic wheelchair when they go places so they don’t need to use the manual, which is difficult since Nate’s arm is still healing. Nate has 2-3 appointments a week that he needs to go to and is looking at some more surgeries coming up. He has continued to run into issues with skin breakdown. Danielle is still working full time and talking care of Nate with only the help of their 4 kids and family members. Any amount you can send their way would help. Prayers are much needed. Thank you!
