Nathan Partridge - Cry for Help

When we become parents, our main goal is to protect and provide for our children.  We pray they are healthy, remain on the ‘right path’ to become strong, independent members of society.  It aches to the core when your child enters a troublesome avenue that is beyond the usual teenage phase.

My son, Nathan, has taken that avenue.

There are several people who are already aware of the battles Nathan has been fighting for the last two years, but most are not.  Nathan has transformed from the customary, outgoing teenager to making extremely damaging decisions.  Currently at age 16, he became involved with drugs, refusing to go to school and when he did attend he refused to do any of the required work.  Knowing that he had missed a substantial amount of leaning content, we were certain he was not able to figure out the required work – he was lost and refusing to ask or accept help.  Drinking, drugs and smoking were all a part of his daily life.  Talking with Nathan, using reasoning, applying incentives and any/every creative idea to deter him from the avenue he was heading did not work.  We refused to allow him to destroy his future.  Legal steps were then taken to try to get him the help he needed.  The courts decided it is in Nathan’s best interest to be admitted into a boy’s rehabilitation facility institution, and ordered mandatory admittance for 12 months.  The hope is to prevent him from ending up in prison, because this is the path that he was heading.  The time came and we have been able to place Nathan into the Brush Creek Youth Ranch – Teen Challenge of Oklahoma.

With the professional guidance of Brush Creek, Nathan will be given the opportunity to work through his challenges and get back on track with his education, with the possibility of graduating at the end of the 12-month stay.  Most importantly, Nathan will be able to redirect his life’s path.  After review multiple facilities, The Teen Challenge ministry was the best selection for him.  Because at the end of the day without GOD Nathan will not be able to do any of this.

We have borrowed against our 401K, emptied out our savings accounts and applied for financial support through loans and our employers.  And though we are actively organizing additional fundraisers, the total amount of The Teen Challenge is a struggle; $3,200 a month for 12 months.

“Asking” for financial assistance via a site such as Go Fund Me is probably looked down upon, but there is no length that I will go to save my son – just as any parent would do if it were their child.

Any amount will help and all proceeds will go directly to The Teen Challenge tuition for Nathan, and any additional funds raised will go to the program.

Nathan deserves this chance in life.  He is an amazing young man.
