Hurricane Harvey Flood Victims

Hurricane Harvey devasted our apartment home in Kingwood, TX when flood waters rushed in Monday early AM 8/28/17.  I was rescued along with my 2 children (ages 5 & 3) by local church members in a high water vehicle.  We were the last family to get out by vehicle before taking in water.  The coast guard came in a few hours later and did a mandatory evacuation by boat for the remaining people.  We are displaced, our vehicle is a total loss as well as all furniture and most possesions.  I'm a single mom & do not get child support.  I've struggled to make ends meet the past year and I am facing a difficult road ahead to rebuild our lives.  I know many are asking how they can help Harvey survivors.  I would be most greatful for any monitary donations to help me move forward in providing a safe home, basic necessities, clothing & food for my children & myslef.  I'm keeping hold to faith that good will come from this situation and trying to show my 5 year old the importance of us being safe and together during this difficult time.  She is starting Kindergarten when the schools open and is very distraught she can't return home.  Seeing her cry every day to go home has been one of the most difficult things about this whole ordeal. As most Houstonians are finding themselves in similar situations of a "surprise move" I did not have enough time to prepare Aubrey for what was ahead of us.  I am careful of protecting her but also wanting her to understand that things happen in life that are unavoidable and we must stay strong and positive.  My 3 year old is oblivious, of course,  to what is going on.  He seems most upset that he can not go swimming.                I'm very grateful we are safe and am holding on to hope.          I thank everyone for their support in helping our young family rebuild our lives.
