$1,500 for Football Charity Mwanza

Donation protected
For those who have been keeping up with my life in Australia, you know that the last 11 months have been a privilege to say the least.

At the end of January I will be going to Mwanza, Tanzania for three months to experience the opposite side of the spectrum and try to help out in any way that I can. I'll be volunteering with Football Charity Mwanza, a group that uses soccer as a platform to gain the trust of Tanzanian youths to then teach valuable life skills and lessons. The goal is not only to improve the lives of these young Tanzanians, but to also spread awareness to the western world. The charity will soon begin to run workshops in western countries to educate our part of the world on different cultures and their understanding of happiness. You'd be surprised at not only how much you can help these kids, but also how much you can learn from them!

I am lucky enough to have all that I need in this life, but unfortunately this can't be said for everyone. I've set a goal of $1,000 to be raised towards Football Charity Mwanza in the next 10 days, and I would love your help!

*Where did this come from?
In September 2015, I made the decision to move back to Boston after Australia and work for the travel company that I worked for last year. In November, I signed my work contract and then sent in a deposit for a Boston apartment. Two days later, I was essentially laid off before even starting. Because it is a group travel company for middle and high school aged students, they lost a lot of business after the Paris attacks and no longer could afford to hire me. With that, my $900 apartment deposit was down the drain and I suddenly had no desire to move back to Boston. I then made the decision that instead of working behind a desk doing something I don't fully care about, I could do something cool again and actually make a difference while I have no obligations back home. Soccer has always been a part of my life, and I love how this charity incorporates it into helping others!

*WHAT will this money be used for?
-The first $300 will go towards filling one large suitcase with soccer equipment that I will take with me to Africa. (If you prefer to donate equipment rather than money, that's just as good! Cleats, balls, cones, and pinnies accepted)
-The next $300 will go towards my vaccinations and visa
-Anything and everything after that will be donated directly to Football Charity Mwanza. This includes pitch restoration, local coaches wages, shipping costs for outside donations, team transportation, and other daily costs of a start up charity.

*WHY should you donate?
You are probably wondering why you should give money to someone who just spent a year galavanting around Australia, New Zealand, and Europe and living a life more luxurious than most. I completely agree, I wouldn't want to give me money either. HOWEVER, here are three reasons why you should donate:

1. It is going towards a good cause. Many of these kids don't even have shoes to play the sport they love.
2. Instead of giving me a Christmas present or writing a birthday check in April, it will make me a lot happier if you put your money towards this! This is all I want or need!
3. As luxurious, easy, and amazing as my life has been the past 11 months, it's really what has made me want to do this. The 6 kids I nannied for have more than most kids in the world, but what did they ask for for Christmas? Money to donate to a charity of their choice. After serving as a mother/sister/friend figure towards them for so long, they've really made me feel like a significant role model. It is truly a great feeling and I'd love the opportunity to give these Tanzanian kids the same attention and guidance.

*WHO does this charity support?
Football Charity Mwanza supports over 300 children daily. They currently support two soccer academies in Mwanza by providing football training, after school help, English training, and life skills workshops. They are currently in the process of implementing a program for local females, granting them the same opportunities to play football and learn. They support locals by providing coaching clinics around the mwanza region, and as I mentioned before, we soon will be spreading our support and understanding of happiness to the Western World.

*WHEN do I leave?
My journey begins on January 18th and ends on April 18th. This fundraiser will be open for donations for 10 days.
