Send Kurtis To Nanaimo

I am on my way to a city just North of the US/Canadain border, at the end of March, called Nanaimo to aid the Four Square church there in their ministries for a six month period. This fund goes to my rent for myself as well as food and any expense that I may have while I am involved with this ministry. I will be strongly involved with the inner city youth ministry working with children who do not know Jesus as well as with some of the other ministries there.

The pastor of the church in Nanaimo asked me some questions in an email, two of which I would like to share my answers with you. 

(What is your ministry experience?) I have no official ministry experience as far as working at a ministry as an employ or as a missionary. However, my father worked as the program director for the portland rescue mission which was my introduction to ministry as a child. I have ministered to the homeless of portland through the rescue mission and through a program here that meets one night a week called night strike.

(What is your calling?) I simply follow Christ's command to make disciples of all nations. something that I think is needed so much in this day and age. The disciple part of that commandment is particularly strong in my mind as I never had anyone as a real devoted mentor for me besides my parents until about eight months ago. I feel that God has asked me to reach outside of the zone where I am comfortable operating (as a supporting role as it were) and into a role that is instrumental in serving on the personal level of discipleship. This obviously includes myself to be even more fully committed to my relationship with Jesus which should be a constant area of growth in any Christian's life.
