NPA Students in Thailand June 2016

In June 2016, a small group of NPA high school students and chaperones will be traveling to NPA's sister school, Prasatwittayakarn School in Prasat District, Surin, Thailand. This will be a service-based trip. We will be teaching a two week long English immersion course to students there. While we are teaching at the school, each of us will be staying with host families. This will be an amazing opportunity for us to be exposed to new cultures and customs. After our time at the school, we will be traveling around southern Thailand and Cambodia. This will be a wonderful experience for everyone on the trip, and we are all looking forward to being immersed in another culture, meeting new people, and teaching. We plan on having one more day of volunteer work during our trip besides the two weeks at Sura Wittayakarn School. We may visit and volunteer at an orphanage where children are available for adoption. The logistics for some of our traveling time in Thailand are still being worked out, but we are buying the plane tickets from the US to Bangkok very soon. The plane tickets, travel costs, and other expenses fall on the families of the students going on this trip, and our costs are estimated to be $3,000 per student. We are fundraising to help lighten this burden so that this trip can happen for each of us and we can have the ability to volunteer while gaining valuable life experiences. Money we receive will go directly to support us on our trip, and any we may have left over will go to our families to soften the cost of the travel expenses.
