We are a group of students from Newport High School who are part of the student organization known as HOSA-Future Health Professionals. Newport, WA is a small town located on the Washington/Idaho border. Our high school has about 350 students in grades 9-12. The mission of HOSA-Future Health Professionals is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students; therefore helping us to meet the needs of the health care community.
Newport High School HOSA-Future Health Professionals members have dedicated a great deal of time and energy to achieve the privilege of attending the HOSA State Conference. This is Newport High School’s first year of attending and 27 students will be competing in 22 different events. Students are striving to increase their knowledge and skills by practicing specifically for their competition, some of which include: Medical Terminology; Forensic Science; Nursing Assisting; Biomedical Laboratory Sciences; Medical Spelling; Epidemiology; Biomedical Debate; and Medical Mathematics.
We have been fundraising this school year and find ourselves still short on funds to cover the costs associated with travel, lodging, and registration. The 27 students will be making the trek across the state of Washington to the State Conference in Vancouver, March 20th to March 22nd.
This group of students is dedicated to the field of health care and will be providing services for our families and communities in the future.
Any donation will help students lower the cost of attending the HOSA-Future Health Professionals State Conference, and would be greatly appreciated. We are grateful for your support!
