Donation protected
Hello to all who read this...........

Second UPDATE to story below:  David Aben has passed away from his injuries, compounded by his under lying chronic health conditions !  The funeral took place January 25th 2021.  All funds NOW have to be allocated toward re-imbursement of funeral costs already paid by credit card ( which is now another debt on the plate of "unaffordables" ) and the out standing $1900.00 balance which will go to collections in 30 days if not paid.  The situation could not be any worse at this point and without financial help the family will not sustain financially !!
PLEASE, if anyone can help or pass along this information to anyone and everyone they know, it would be so VERY, very much appreciated.  No more words can be said or written now as tears consistently flood the eyes of a broken women who must now carry on life without her beloved......

UPDATE to story below:  As of December 30th, 2020, David was re-admitted to the hospital ( WVMC, ) 4th time now, with blood clots in the right lung,  a "mass" that is undefined in that lung and possibly one clot in the liver.  Treatment for these new developments was started, however, on January 02, 2021, David had a reparatory / cardiac arrest is now on life support due to basically what is considered system failure, ( trauma & disease. )   The hospital is sustaining his life on a ventilator while new medicines are being given to combat the blood clots and new, major infection to the right lung.   On top of all of this, he is still fighting the issues noted below !!
PLEASE pray for him as the overall situation is grave and the outcome so far is not favorable......

Here is a very brief explanation of what has happened to us ( David & Beth  )  since our accident on October 14th 2020, which has altered our lives.........

We are David & Beth, ( Elizabeth ) long time local residence of Ashe County, NC, avid Goldwing motorcycle riders and active members of GWRRA and the Ashe County, NC Chamber Of Commerce.   On October 14th 2020, we were in a life altering motorcycle accident, that was a hit and run on the NC Blue Ridge Parkway, forcing us to have to lay down our Goldwing on the pavement and slide into the woods/trees.   The other "crotch-rocket" motorcycle driver, speeding into our lane, fled without stopping..... Beth sustained a lacerated spleen, plus one minor fractured rib, ( lots-o-bumps/burses ) and spent almost two weeks in the hospital between the ICU and the IMCU in hopes of NOT losing her spleen; although a blood transfusion WAS required.   To date, God is good and the spleen is slowly healing......David, as the driver, broke 6 ribs which in turn created a perforated left lung, plus broken teeth and periodic episodes of heart failure and breathing complications.  Throughout his 3 hospital stays since the accident, the ICU and IMCU removed almost 3000ML of blood/fluid from his lung and it continues to collect fluid in his pleura space causing massive pressure on his heart.  After several thoracenteses procedures, David now has a left lung drain implanted, which to date, has to be evacuated twice per week to keep removing the fluid build up, which helps him be able to breath with the limited use of that lung.  The hospital has finally, once again after 3 stays since Oct. 14th, released him now  ( December ) to try and recover at home, while enduring continued lung draining with the aide of nurses from home health care, where they think at least he will be more comfortable.  David is a 100%, service connected disabled military veteran,  who already has asbestosis and CHF.  These are just a very few of the details that can and will be shared if anyone wants to call, text or e-mail...... PLEASE, though, NO SCAMMERS....Non-legit contacts will NOT be tolerated nor responded to and will be reported if becomes necessary.  Hope everyone understands the day and time we live in, with sad to say, so may scammers trying to take advantage, one way or another.  So here goes:  [email redacted] OR [phone redacted].

For the 1st time in many years we are in dire straights and need to reach out to others for help.  Our disability income plus any other income we are able to earn is falling short of the financial burden faced.  Since the accident, neither one of us have been able to draw from any other sources of income typically used in the past.  David does freelance photography and graphic design but can not do any of this work to earn extra money until he recovers.  During this dreadful time of Covid-19, some of the normal resources that could be utilized to help us, are either not available or simply not accessible in the IMMEDIATE time frame that is needed.  Some of the needs include:  Money for debt that will not be covered by ANY of our limited insurance, plus money for medical supplies/medications either not covered or out of immediate reach, alterations ( which can be explained in detail ) to the bathroom / entryway of home which will be necessary going forward in life, refrigerator broke down and had to be replaced during all of this ( now expense for that,) expenses during October, November and NOW December that are not being met.  Normal monthly bills such as utilities, mortgage, gas, food etc. are falling behind to some degree due to having to rob Peter to pay Paul... We have to pick and choose wisely in order to stat a float.  Winter is coming now to the high country and work around the house is needed to get things in order and a handy man would be of great value as it is only the two of us here and we are not able to prepare as we we were before... To be honest, going forward, we just need to be financially ready for any and all that we are going to be faced with, as only God, time and the patience for healing are all we can pray for as tomorrow is uncertain and can not be promised....

In conclusion, as shared before, we are not accustomed to reaching out for help nor are we well versed on creating and promoting a Go Fund Me campaign so hopefully we have written enough about this very vast and traumatic situation to communicate some of what we are going through and some of the needs we have.  PLEASE...do not hesitate to reach out to us to hear more of what is going on or to answer any questions.

May God care for and bless each eye that may look upon this information regardless of anyone's ability to help.....

Beth & David .......
