Donovan's Story
Every year Impact East Texas holds a talent expo for the kids and teens in the East Texas District as well as other states in the nation. In the summer those who placed first or second in the talent show move on to compete in "Summerfest" for nationals. For the past two years, through our previous church, Calvary Worship Center, in Corsicana, TX. our son,Don, was a participant of this talent expo in the art category. Both of these years Don made it to nationals and won second place each year.
The Discovery
This year we discovered that Donovan had such an amazing singing voice and urged him to compete in the male vocal solo category. Since this would be his first time he vowed to sing if my husband played the guitar while he sang, and the stage was set and Don performed "Different" by Micah Tyler!
The Win
Not only did he place in the art category but he also placed in the male solo vocal to get him to go to nationals this summer in Gatlinburg, Tennesse! In the previous years, we would send Donovan's art with the church members at our previous church, but because Donovan would have to perform this year and needs to be present we have made this page in order to ask YOUR help to get us there In June!
The Cost and How You Can Help
As many of you know in August our family went through a BIG CHANGE! Our family decided to follow the call of God and move to Texas City, TX to help reopen and restablish Trinity Full Gospel Church. Since we are still a growing church, there are not many of us to contribute as much but our church has been generous to start raising as much as they can by having bake sales, and others that are being planned along the way. However, it is not close to our goal and Nationals are on June 18-21. The cost for nationals has been rounded to $3,000.00. This will incude the stay, gas, food, entry fee to nationals, van rental and if there are any other cost that show up along the way. A break down and estimate:
Gas to and back: $350.00
housing: $800.00-$1000.00 for a week
food: $250.00-$300.00
entry fee: $270.00
van rental:$600.00
other cost: ?
