Mylo Needs Hip Surgery!

Donation protected
My name is Linda, and I am the Founder of a very small animal rescue in Chicago.  Because we do not have a facility and rely on foster homes, we cannot take in a lot of dogs, but we do what we can.  We do not discriminate against breed or age and believe that all of the animals that come under our wing are "meant to be", so we will not put a price limit on their care and devote 100% to each one's individual needs including behavioral and medical.  Because we are so small, we must be mindful of expenses and cannot always take on animals that are in need of major medical care.   On that note, meet Mylo...  :-)

I saw Mylo at a kill-facility in Chicago and was instantly smitten!  Besides that darling, under-bite smile, there was just something about him - about his disposition.  All of these facilities can be scary and stressful to dogs, and they can become anxious and barky and hyper.  Mylo had this zen-like calm about him.  While most of the other dogs were obviously very stressed in their cages, Mylo was just sitting patiently, looking at me as if trying to communicate with me.  It was just so odd because it felt as though he was trying to tell ME that it would be okay!  He had already been there for several weeks and been passed over by many other rescues.  It was because he had some kind of rear-leg injury.  I was very surprised because even larger organizations that DO have the funds to care for him seemed to be blind to this little diamond sitting there so sweetly right in front of them.  I knew he was a very highly adoptable dog and would be a wonderful addition to a lucky family.  It was thought that Mylo had an ACL injury, which is expensive, but I thought we might be able to swing it.  I put him on my "mental list" because I had no place to put him at that time, but I just could not get him out of my head.  We put the word out that we needed several foster homes, and when I met a particular foster home, I knew instantly that he was meant to go there, so I could FINALLY transfer him from the kill facility to my rescue!!!

Well, our first stop was our vet...  Unfortunately, we received extra bad news - Mylo has a fractured hip!  It is an old injury and he has learned to compensate for it and playfully runs around like a normal pup - limp incorporated.  However, despite his amazing attitude, it does cause him discomfort, and he needs Femoral Head Osteotomy surgery to give him current relief and alleviate future pain and lameness.  Mylo has been adopted, and now that he has settled into his wonderful home where he has the security to recover peacefully surrounded by his new loving family, he is ready for that surgery!

Mylo needs your help - just look at that face...!  Please consider donating to Mylo's fund as you give thanks during this Holiday Season and New Year for the good health of your own furry family members or in honor of a furry family member that has had a similar leg injury or just because that pearly-white under-bite is too darn irresistible!  Thank you so very much!
