My Dad’s Road To Recovery

Donation protected
At the age of 30, our Father was diagnosed with an extremely rare neurological condition called spinocerebellar ataxia. This condition is a progressive and degenerative disease that deteriorates the cerebellum (part of the brain that is in charge of coordination). Over the years, our family has seen him transition from occasionally losing his balance, to having to use a walker, and then to using a wheelchair. We have heard and seen him slowly, but progressively, lose coordination in his voice and movements, and have seen the frustration of his discomfort. We have also seen his mental state of mind slowly drift away from him, as signs of dementia have slowly began to onset.

Recently, a handful of events occurred that led our Father to an extreme state of paranoia, anxiety, and depression. This, in combination with his condition, rendered my Father essentially paralyzed and led him to back and forth trips to the Emergency Room, psych ward, and rehabilitation nursing homes. Now, it has gotten to the point where he needs 24/7 care and assistance.

Our only goal is to make our Father comfortable and happy, and to do so, we need to find him the best possible specialized treatment. We need to find the best plan of action for him and get him the best care. Your donation would go towards 24/7 nurses/aids (~20k /month), finding specialized treatment, and home accommodations for his condition. Many of these costs are not covered by insurance, so we need your help to raise as much as possible.

Our Father is still fighting strong, and needs all the support and love he can get. Thank you!
