I’m climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in late September - at 19,341 feet, the highest peak on the African continent. Why you may ask? Because I’ll be there.

I’m doing the climb as a fundraiser for the Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program (KCCP) which channels support for treatments and cures for children whose bodies cannot cope with adult solutions.

We are already seeing results. Results that are saving lives like Lynsie Conradi from Bellingham who was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 16 and after chemotherapy was back on her feet. At the age of 22, the leukemia reappeared and as is the custom, her original chemotherapy regime was prescribed. Nothing happened.

Lynsie was then put on a new T-cell replacement program that came out of Seattle Children’s Hospital as a result of KCCP support. Within a week Lynsie had zero trace of leukemia. That was a year ago and today Lynsie is still struggling with the after effects of her chemo treatment last year. She has been in and out of hospitals on a constant basis. Not surprisingly, she has not been able to return to work.

So my fundraiser will donate half the funds to KCCP and half to Lynsie Conradi as she continues to recover from the side effects of her early treatment.

Please consider making a contribution that helps find more treatments and cures that save children’s lives. I’ll be inspired by your support.
