Physical Therapy & Support

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Richard Rogers and recently I suffered a huge medical event.  I was diagnosed with cancer in November.  I was very private with this news and asked my closest friends not to share the information for fear of creating an unnecessary scare. Turns out many of my friends were supporting me all along without me knowing it.  They are my Angels and I am most appreciative of their vigil and prayers for me, as I am alive today to share my story.

When I arrived to begin my 1st round of chemo treatment in December, I told the doctor I wasn’t feeling myself and proceeded to collapse in the hospital. I was admitted into the hospital that same day with a fever and suffering from severe dehydration. I was in no condition to start chemotherapy, the doctors expected to hydrate and treat flu symptoms.  Within three days my entire body was shutting down.  Turns out I had suffered a stroke and not realized it.  My heart showed signs of multiple mini-strokes, my blood pressure was skyrocketing, I had severe internal bleeding the doctors could not locate and my kidneys were shutting down.  It was quite a scare and a brush with death during the darkest hours. I was put on life support where I remained for 2 weeks.

When I woke up, the doctors told me the news: I have Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. I have been in the hospital now for almost two months trying to stabilize and heal.  I have not been able to walk on my own since I arrived.  My insurance is covering a lot of my expenses and I am very grateful to have the coverage I do.  But the physical therapy/rehabilitation services are not covered.

I own and operate my own catering business.  Without disability insurance, my income is still dependent on my business operating.  Without me there to manage and solicit new business, the number of new jobs are slowly diminishing.  I have great support from friends who have been helping keep my business commitments.  But these friends have their own careers and I could really use support from an experienced caterer until I get back on my feet.  If I could find a general manger with catering experience to support my business until I return, it would keep me from losing everything I’ve worked so hard to build.

I have created this GoFundMe account to reach out for support to cover my physical therapy expenses. I am told I will need 2-3 months of physical therapy to get back to my normal routine.  Meanwhile, my business is also suffering.  If you can support me in any way, I would greatly appreciate it.  It was difficult for me to come to the decision to ask, I am grateful for anything you can contribute.  Thank you for all of your kindness.
