Mr. Le's bile duct cancer fund

Donation protected
My father (Lo Le) has been diagnosed with stage IV bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) at the age of 59 years old. It is an extremely rare cancer that happens to be very unforgiving and aggressive. Back in late February -March my father had an operation to remove gallstones, followed by a liver resection where the surgeon first saw cancer cells from the CT scan.  Ever since, there has not been a day that goes by where my father does not feel pain in his abdominal area where the cancer has begun to spread rapidly.  In less than six months, our family has seen my father lose half of his bodyweight and become all bones struggling to walk short distances and even unable to do basic things such as sleeping or eating. Someone who once looked like a reasonably healthy adult became someone who needed to go back to the ER numerous times because of the overwhelming pain.  Unfortunately, every doctor that has taken care of my father has told our family that the survival rate of this particular cancer is very slim-if anything, only 5 out of 100 survive a bit longer than 6-8 months.

This month would be my father's 6th month since he was first diagnosed with cancer in March 2015. A variety of doctors including oncologists have also mentioned that my father is in no shape for chemotherapy and that any type of treatment would be too harsh especially since he has become incredibly weak and fragile. Treatment for this type of cancer has typically been found ineffective.

The doctors suggest that he will only have days to weeks left (at most) to live, and our family has all agreed that our goal for him is to provide every last bit of comfort and joy. He will be staying at hospice for the remainder of the precious time we have left with him.

Please work together with us to help fund my father's stay at hospice. Every donation will be greatly appreciated and will surely go a long way. No one should have to endure a loved one experiencing bile duct cancer and our hearts truly goes out to every family who must cope with these unfortunate circumstances.

Thank you everyone for your unconditonal support, especially old friends, family in Vietnam, and many members from the Vietnamese community in Prince Rupert.

Here is a short clip of one of our dogs Sunny visiting my father. My father rarely smiles, but he did when he saw our family dog; a very precious moment!

More about my father:
Lo came to Canada from Vietnam in the 90's  and sponsored my older siblings as well as my mother to the country. Ever since, he has worked hard his entire life to provide us with everything as a fisherman. His line of work was crabbing and it was defintely not a glamorous type of job.  If anything, we've been told by other fishermen that crabbing is  very physically demanding. It is heart breakening for us to see how his job only months ago that demanded such strength and fitness came from a body that is now so fragile and weak. Regardless, he tries very hard to use his remaining strength to get through each day.
