Mount Snowdon in a Wheelchair

Donation protected
On the 18th July 2017, Jason will be attempting to climb Mount Snowdon in an all terrain wheelchair for charity.

Mount Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales at 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) above sea level, and the highest point in the British Isles south of the Scottish Highlands. Sir Edmund Hillary trained on Mount Snowdon, prior to his 1953 ascent of Mount Everest.

This would be a challenge for most able bodied people, but Jason has Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and is now virtually paralysed and confined to a wheelchair.

MND is a fatal, often rapidly progressive illness that affects 5,000 people in the UK at any one time. It damages the brain and spinal cord, leading to weakness, muscle wasting, severe disability, paralysis and death. A third of those affected die within a year of diagnosis and more than half within two years. Six people die everyday. There is no treatment and no cure.

Motor Neurone Disease is killing Jason, it has robbed him of his independence, but it hasn't broken his spirit and his determination. He is aiming to raise £5,000 which will be divided between three great charities; Marie Curie, Dove House Hospice and SITraN (Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience).

Marie Curie is a national charity which provides care and support to people with terminal illnesses and their families.

Dove House Hospice delivers the care to people who are terminally ill. it aims to add life to days when days can’t be added to life.
