Morgan was diagnosed with Stage IV high risk neuroblastoma on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Arkansas Children's Hospital. She was just 2 1/2 years old when she began the fight of her life. This account was created to help with medical expenses that are not covered by insurance, travel expenses and lodging.
Diagnosis:
A CT scan revealed that Morgan had a tumor measuring 16 cm x 8 cm x 11 cm filling up her entire abdominal cavity. The tumor was wrapped completely around her aorta and other major blood pathways, compressing them so much that her heart rate and blood pressure were so elevated that the doctors at ACH had concerns about cardiac issues or a stroke.
Treatment:
If everything goes perfect, Morgan will complete 6 rounds of aggressive chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy. Morgan just completed radiation proton therapy and hopes to start immunotherapy at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). If all goes as planned, she will complete her treatment in November of 2014.
Today:
Morgan has endured more than any child should, and has displayed amazing strength and courage. She celebrated her 3rd birthday on April 27, 2014 with friends and family in Russellville, AR before travelling across the country to start the next phase of her treatment at CHOP. In the coming weeks Morgan will have a G-tube placed to help meet her nutritional needs and receive another round of scans to make sure there is no detectable active disease before starting immunotherapy.
