My name is Joe. This summer I was accepted a mission school known as a Discipleship Training School (or DTS for short) through the organization Youth With A Mission (YWAM).
For those of you unfamiliar a DTS course is a full-time program that lasts five or six months. It consists of two parts: lecture phase and outreach phase. In the lecture phase, you learn more about God and His world. You'll learn not only from lectures but also from community living and practical training. The outreach phase focuses on applying what you learned in the classroom through an intense, cross-cultural experience.
The DTS that I am attending is known as the Endurance DTS, its focus is "to know God and make Him known in the outdoor industry. To Support, serve and encourage Christians within the outdoor industry and Christian outdoor ministries worldwide. To teach backcountry skills with an eye for use as mission-field skills (i.e. "translatable skills").
As of yet my outrach location is unknown, though in past years they have focused on countries such as India, Nepal, and Thailand.
