Monica says goodbye to Mom

Donation protected
The great joys in life are found not only in what we do and feel, but also in our quiet hopes and labors for others.

Dear friends,
Thank you for visiting this page.
It is with a heavy heart that I write this donation page on behalf of my friend, Monica and her mother, Luba, who recently lost her battle with stage 4 cancer.

When Monica was 9 years old, she lost her only known living aunt, to cancer. Months later, her only known living grandmother also passed away from the disease. After both her aunt and grandmother passed away, Monica and her mother were alone with no other family. Three years later, when Monica was 12 years old, her mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. Eager to stay alive and not let cancer defeat her, Luba did everything in her power to get rid of the cancer.

Over the course of ten years, Monica's mother underwent chemotherapy, radiation, surgical procedures, and numerous other treatments to try and put her cancer at bay. While Luba was physically feeling the effects of cancer, Monica was spiritually and emotionally feeling them - having been with her mother during countless hospital visits.

For a short period Luba was believed to be in "remission," only to find out that her cancer would return soon with a vengeance.
When Luba's cancer returned for the second time, it metastasized and spread into her liver before ultimately settling in her bones.

Despite her unfortunate diagnosis, Monica's mother continued to fight her cancer and provide for her daughter as a single mother and parent. While Luba was mentally strong, the cancer had made her physical body very weak. She ended up losing almost 45lbs, and having to use a cane to get from place to place. Monica and Luba were not just mother and daughter, they were best friends - and the the only family each of them had left.

On June 15th, 2014 (father's day) at 11:45 Luba lost her long and diffcult battle with cancer. She was strong, but the cancer was stronger. While many people generally have family to comfort them and assist them during this transitional and trying time, Monica doesn't. Despite dealing with the loss of her mother, Monica has to also carry the tough financial burdens that accompany a passing. My hope in creating this page is to show her she doesn't have to carry the burden by herself, and that she isn't alone.

We can all be a bridge that allows another to reenter the world after a loss...
Together, we can help by giving the gift of financial support and peace of mind. Thank you so much for your time and heartfelt donations.

Please spread the word!
