Be strong and courageous, Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Cancer. When people hear this word their lives are   changed forever.

Celebrate. Remember. Fight back.  These are the words we grew up to know all too well. Throughout our life’s we participated in events called relay for life to support, raise money, and awareness for those that have been affected by cancer. Little did we know it will hit closer to home then we could ever imagine.

Katherine a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, best friend, and mentor too many; but most of all she is a fighter. In 2009 our lives suddenly took a turn, our mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Shortly after the diagnoses she underwent surgery where they removed the ovary. After that experience relay for life had a different meaning. She continued her fight but in 2013 she had to fight harder than she ever had. The cancer that we had thought was gone had returned. She was then diagnosed with cervical cancer. This time surgery was not an option and chemotherapy began immediately. It is now 2015 and we are still continuing the fight.

Our mom is one of the strongest people we know. She taught us to always fight for what we want and to never settle for less. She pushes us to become the individuals that she knows we can be. Her personality is unlike anything you could imagine. She is smart, goofy, caring and everything that falls in between. She could take your worst day and turn into memorable one. Her smile alone could put you at ease and let you know everything is okay.

In the past we have been blessed to be given the opportunity to raise money for her treatments so she can continue her fight.  We take this fight day by day but certain obstacles have arrived. Her treatments are becoming more intense physically, emotionally, and financially.  We are doing all we can but now we are turning to our friends, family, and others that are willing to help. We have set a goal to raise $5,000 for her treatment and with your help we know it is possible.
