Hi everyone. As many of you know I have recently been spending much of my time in Mombasa having got the Kenya "bug" while volunteering with GVI in 2011. Much of the work I have been doing has been in conjunction with a an amazing woman named Grace Wambete who works tirelessly for the good of others. One project very dear to both our hearts is a small school Grace runs for 80 children from babies to standard 3 in her local village. Like kids everywhere these Cornerstone angels deserve the chance to play and learn, however they struggle because of their difficult circumstances. Many of them come to school without breakfast and don't bother going home during their lunch break as there is no food available to them. To address this problem we would love to be able to provide them with a cup of porridge each morning. The aim is to provide them with some energy, help them to focus in class and most importantly to relieve that feeling of hunger that we and our children will never know. The cost of a cup of porridge is 5 kenyan shillings x 80 kids = 400 shillings or about $5,50 per day. That's less than $30 to provide a cup of porridge for every one of these kids for a week. Every little bit helps and the best way for a campaign like this to work is for lots of people to give a little and as you can see as little as $5.50 can make a big difference to the lives of 80 kids.
