Rescued Fur Baby Needs Hip Surgery

Mollie is a good dog. She is a beautiful, gentle, sweet and really well trained, 2-yr old, golden retriever mix with an angel face. But poor Mollie is believed to have been dumped near the Meadows of Buda just before Thansgiving. Some really nice people found her and gave her a safe place to stay for the first week but they just could'nt keep her. So, we offered to take her in and committed to giving her a good home, not just temporarily but forever.
After a scary night in a strange place, Mollie settled down and made herself right at home. She received a soft bed, a warm bath, a good nail trim, collar, leash and tag. Then Mollie headed to the vet. She received a good head to tail inspection and it turned out that she is super healthy, except for one thing. Mollie has really severe hip dysplasia. (Perhaps it's the reason she was dumped.) The hip dysplasia makes it painful to do all the things that dogs love; walking, running, chasing squirrels, jumping into cars, and even climbing the stairs at our house. So, Mollie spends a lot of time just sitting and lying, which causes muscle atrophy. Mollie is too young to live in so much discomfort so, our vet recommended that we work with Mollie to increase her back, hip and leg strength through some therapeutic exercises. Then, surgery. The surgery would repair Mollie's shallow hip sockets and eliminate her constant pain. However, the estimated cost for both hips is $4500! This is just more than we can handle. We understand that committing to the care of a pet requires some expense and we are more than happy to take on the responsibility to care for our new, sweet baby, but we simply can't do this by ourselves.
We are hoping that our friends and neighbors, who showed so much concern for Mollie when she was lost, might help us with a small donation. We've asked for half the total but absolutely anything will help. We've already incurred a huge expense at Christmas with the exam, blood work, vaccinations and X-rays. We hope that you can find the Christmas spirit to help this gentle, angel get the help she needs. Thank you!
