In Memory of Bianca Wallace
Thank you for taking the time to visit this page. I would ask that you not think of Bianca as someone you didn't know, but as your own friend; that's how I remember her, as a friend to many. Funny and spontaneous with a voice of integrity, Bianca was always a great person to talk to for advice because she would give you an unbiased solution to your problem or humor to lift your spirit; I like many others continue to miss hearing that voice.
Today there still exists no cure for lupus and I believe with all the technology of the world continuing to push the boundaries of what used to impossible or unimaginable, we should have a cure for not only Lupus, but ALS, as well the many other incurable diseases that we know of today; all it takes are the same resources, technology, and research and development, and dedication that helped to create the computer or phone you are using to view this site. So I would ask that you skip a latte, donut, croissant, a lunch or dinner out, and contribute to the cause of finding a cure for lupus, something we will all benefit from because we should all be tired of people losing their lives due to diseases.
Bianca's Story From Her Mother
I am the Mother of Bianca Jovan Wallace affectionately known as Miss B; my first born, who lost her battle with LUPUS December 2010. She was diagnosed in 2001, during her sophomore year of college. She was a vibrant, determined & compassionate young lady.
Anyone who came in contact with my Bianca fell in love with her instantly. Bianca was sweet and sensitive with a smile that could light up the sky. Good jokes always kept her laughing, whether it was comedy routines of Chris Rock, Robin Williams, Richard Pryor or just a friend acting silly.
Miss B wanted to help juveniles get out of the criminal justice system; she did just that by earning her BS in Criminal Justice in 2004 From Georgia State University and began working with DeKalb county Sherriff's office. A pleasure to work with, there wasn't one officer in the building who did not admire her work ethic. Unfortunately the stress of working began to affect her body and after 2 1/2 years as a warrant technician, she was forced to leave in 2007 due to her illness.
Miss B loved music, movies, shoes, and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. She loved the strong black woman of the past such as, Josephine Baker, Dorothy Dandridge, and Lena Horne, admiring their perseverance, and grace when she watched movies about their life stories. Her love for helping kids led her to become mentor to young ladies ages 9-12. She also volunteered her time with many organizations including her alma mater, Stephenson H.S. in Stone Mountain.
When diagnosed in 2008 with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) a complication from Lupus, her condition worsened; but she never complained. Through the painful flares, many emergency room visits and three ICU stays she continued to have faith, love and live a full life.
Bianca did so much in her 28 years, and with the amount of pain she suffered through, I know she is the Strongest woman I ever met. She is dearly missed!
Bianca's funeral on December 8th 2010 was based on two Maya Angelou poems. "STILL I RISE" & "PHENOMENAL WOMAN" Her favorites! When the poem was recited that day there was no doubt, everyone agreed with the following words....
Now you understand Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing It ought to make you proud.
I say, It's in the click of my heels, The bend of my hair,
The palm of my hand, The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman,
That's BIANCA!
And today we say STILL I RISE... Bianca’s spirit rises up to fight for a cure for LUPUS
