Mirror Tuning® -The New Conventional Guitar Tuning

Hello! I am Bernard Matthew Birgenheier aka, Senchant™. I own a community based music school in Canton, MA and have taught music since 1991. I have played guitar since 1976. Over the years as an educator, I have invented several innovations for the global music community. The first is something I call Mirror Tuning®. Mirror Tuning® is a reversal of a conventional guitars tuning, allowing a 6 string instrument to achieve a bigger range than its 8 string equivalent. Why is this exciting!!? Well, a few years ago Guitar Center released statistics touting the acoustic guitar has outsold the electric guitar for the first time in history! As a professional guitarist, I have noticed many top name guitar builders messing with the tuning mechanisms, (such as auto tuners... heavy and no one really liked them), adding extra strings... 7...8 ...9, like we're bored and no longer know what to do with this former "gypsy" instrument. The conventional guitar has remained in its medieval 4th tuning with no real household names pioneering its' future as of late. After some experimentation from a simple accident by messing around with alternate tunings, I found one could tune in 5ths, like a big violin or mandolin!! Wow! Now we're on to something! So I started putting all of my conventional guitars in Mirror Tuning® and found it works beautifully on ANY guitar! It's like they're happier with this harmonically superior new tuning method. They sound big and rich, full of sound and once large and stretched out chords become mere two fret voicings. I currently have several students learning this (what we feel should be the “new conventional tuning”) and they find it very easy and useful.
