Mineola Civic Center - Splash Park

Donation protected
The Mineola Civic Center was given a tremendous gift by Rheba Myers to establish the John J. and Rheba Myers Splash Park.  The generosity of the Myers family will have a lasting effect on the children of the Mineola community for decades to come.  However, the gift was explicitly given to build the Splash Park.  It is up to the community to provide the resources necessary for the buildout surrounding the park.

The surrounding area will consist of restrooms, a concession stand, and a shaded pavilion area for families to hold birthday parties, family reunions, and community events.  The splash park will be approximately 3,500 square feet making it one of the largest in the East Texas area.  The concession stand will allow the Mineola Civic Center to generate revenue to provide funding for the continued operation and upkeep of the splash park.

The goal of the Mineola Civic Center Board is to complete the Splash Park project by mid-June with a grand opening to be held at the annual Fourth of July Fireworks celebration.  To this end, we are asking the community to rally around this project and provide the funding necessary to make this the best community Splash Park area in East Texas!

Information about the Mineola Civic Center:

The Civic Center currently serves as the hub of a host of activities for the individuals living in Mineola and other parts of Wood County.  The Mineola Civic Center, Inc. is a community coalition that has served and continues to serve the citizens of Wood County as an IRS tax exempt organization.  Since receiving its exempt status in 1973, the Mineola Civic Center has primarily existed through contributions.  Major funding originally came from The Meredith Foundation, and The Meredith Foundation continues to support a portion of the annual operational cost for the Mineola Civic Center.

In reality, the Mineola Civic Center serves as the primary community activity center including picnic area, playground area, tennis courts, and outdoor recreation area for basketball and soccer activities.  The Mineola Civic Center also provides 5 meeting rooms ranging from a large meeting area complete with stage and sound system to smaller rooms that can be rented for birthday parties, weddings, and social events.  Local organizations and businesses use these facilities on a fee basis throughout the year.

Please feel free to contact the Mineola Civic Center for more information or if you have questions on how to make a gift.  We thank you for all of your support and look forward to seeing you at the John J. and Rheba Myers Splash Park!
