Mindi Baker-Pelc Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
In November, Mindi went on a family vacation to Florida.  Halfway through the trip, Mindi started experiencing excrutiation pain in her left knee - which she assumed was a torn meniscus.

Upon her return home, Mindi was shocked to find that the pain in her knee was not a torn meniscus after all, but was stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma.  The cancer had originated in her lung, and having gone undetected, spread to her knee and to her brain.

The cancer in her knee was growing so fast, it nearly tripled in size in only a few weeks,  confining Mindi to a wheelchair and crutches 100% of the time.

With the aggresive growth rate of the cancer, Mindi was fast-tracked for immediate treatment.  Mindi started her treatment two weeks ago with immunotherapy and had her first dose of radiation on Tuesday, February 6th.

Doctors are optimistic that the treatment will help Mindi, and anticipate her being on this course of medical treatment for the next year and a half.

Mindi is going to need as much help and support as we can offer during this time.

Financial support helps Mindi with her growing medical expenses as well as the travel expenses required to get her to her treatments in Portland at the OHSU Knight Cancer Center on a weekly basis.

Whether you can provide financial support or just a homecooked meal or help with chores that are now difficult to keep up on, your help is greatly needed and appreciated.
