Dialysis has been my way of life for over the past two years. My kidney disease is hereditary. I have no other complicating illness, so a new kidney would not be compromised.
I now have the opportunity to receive a kidney transplant in the near future and am near the top of the transplant list at this time. However, I must have my co-pay for the surgery at the time I receive the kidney. I am also required to have funds in the bank to cover Medicare premiums and medications for the first three months after transplant, during which time I will not be able to work. The funds will also be used to help pay bills during the recovery time.
Having this transplant would allow me to be able to work a full-time job and help take a burden off my family. I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to a more active and useful life.
