The next day, Friday, July 18th, he had a CT scan as well as a MRI due to headaches he was having.
The MRI was normal.
That's when they thought he had Hodgkin's lymphoma.
He was then set up for a biopsy on Tuesday, July, 22nd.
He had to wait until Friday, July 25th, before he saw the doctor.
It was a hard week for us not knowing what was going on.
The people at Green Bay Oncology were awesome.
They were told he has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. A very treatable cancer. Mike being 20 years old and in very good physical shape, he should do well. He will have to be seen for the rest of his life and monitored for this, but he has a good chance of beating this thing.
On the way to a doctor appointment, he was running late on July 31st, he had a car accident and totaled the car. He and the other driver involved were not hurt since Mike was moving very slow while turning.
The next day, on August 1st, Mike had some more scans done as well as a port for his chemo inserted.
Chemotherapy started on Monday, August 5th. He has 6-8 sessions of chemo, three weeks apart.
He may have radiation if needed after the chemo. They are unsure at this time.
Mike is doing amazingly well. He is a very good student. He is a Junior at St. Norbert College. He has a double major in Computer Science and Business. He has kept up with his school work as well as working for Schrieber Foods as a intern.
The medical bills are piling up. This page hopes to help with the insurance deductable and with the many expenses associated with Mike's illness.
