In loving memory of Miguel Santiago

Early Monday evening, January 19th, 2015. The gates of heaven opened up for a new angel; leaving a wife without a husband and two young children without a father. Monday was no school and Miguel took off from work to spend the day with his children (a day planned for pancakes and bike-rides). When Miguel's wife came home from work, Monday evening, Miguel took a bike-ride to the neighborhood store never returning home. Miguel was shot and killed. His body was found  on the side of the road right inside of his own neighborhood, and his bike was no where to be found.  Police currently have no suspects or answers for the grieving family of this random act of violence. His son, seven years old, and his daughter, five years old, are struggling to comprehend why their father didn't make it back home to  tuck them into bed Monday night.  Miguel's wife, a newly widow, full-time working mother to two young children, now has to worry about how she will pay the next bill or how to supply breakfast, school-lunches, and dinners on one income. Miguel was an incredible example of what a father and man should be. He never turned down work and faced every day with a bright smile. He was his children's hero. He was frequently complimented regarding his generous and warm personality. Miguel would give any stranger the shirt off of his back. Please...let us join together as a community. Neighbors, friends, and family let us help Miguel's wife and children. Our goal is to help his family move out of the neighborhood and into a safer home. A home where his children can play outside without having to see where their father was shot. We hope to help pay some of her bills and provide food for her children. Even the smallest donation can pay tomorrow's school lunch. We will never forget you Miguel.
