Mifflins' Mission Trip to Ethiopia

Donation protected
Since the day Lisa had to leave Ethiopia we knew we wanted to go back together! We have the opportunity to do that this October.

This trip includes a church dedication in a village that harbors families that have converted to Christianity from Islam, and are disowned and sometimes under threat of death if they are found. There are nearly 300 families there now!

While we are there, we will help teach the children, and help with other activities at the church as well.

In another location, we will be helping with the first of its kind Pro-Life conference, teaching pastors and other church leaders about the realities of abortion, and the need for post-abortive healing for women. There is a great hope to begin a grass-roots movement with this conference because the abortion industry has crept in and destroyed so many of the unborn and their unsuspecting mothers.

Part of the conference will be to try to begin to change the mindset of Christians about women who have children out of wedlock. Women who choose life for their babies in the Ethiopian culture are incredibly brave. Unmarried pregnant girls try to have abortions because it is considered shameful to have a baby out of wedlock. They face incredible hardship including being exiled from their villages and left to be eaten by hyenas. Not kidding. Even the ones who have been raped face this horrible fate if they do not abort their babies.

We will also spend time with the residents of Living Hope Ethiopia. The ladies come to Living Hope Ethiopia by way of referral, often from a nurse who tells them their baby is too far along to abort. They come with no hope, and they leave with the hope of a future that includes earning a living, but most importantly, they receive the eternal hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

It is an incredible privilege to be able to serve these ladies by helping them learn a skill while they also learn to care for their babies.

Below is one of the styles of bracelet that they make, and some examples of the necklaces and flowers. These help the ladies earn money that they save in order to start a small business when they are ready to move out of the maternity home and support themselves and their babies.

Thanks so much for your support!!
