Help us fight Breast Cancer
On 5/23/12 during my first mamo at age 40 I was diagnosed with 2 types of breast cancer stage II, ductal as well as invasive, it INSTANTLY changed my life forever! If it wasnt for my faith in God I am sure it could have robbed me of every ounce of hope I had. Fortunately for me, my faith is greater than my fear. Although a very scary word "cancer" is, it also has the power to bring you to your strongest place. So here I am before you at my weakest & most humbling time, yet in a strange way at my most resilient hour, to open myself in a way I never thought I could.
After having the privilege of being a stay at home mom for 4 years to my amazing baby boys, because my wonderful husband worked 2 fulltime jobs, 8 months before my diagnosis I had embarked on a new career journey that I loved. I began working as a Nail Technician at a place (Spa Ni'Joli) that I absolutely loved going to. Then, the road block came. It instantly brought everything to a halt and demanded all my attention. My husband who was/is working fulltime and attending school fulltime now needed to take this on with me too. Thank God we have an AMAZING family!
None the less, the stresses are great and the burdens are heavy. As many others who have experienced cancer know, no matter how much medical insurance you have the bills keep piling quickly. Deductibles, co payments, medications, uninsured portions of surgeries and treatments, the list is long. And while you are grateful to be alive you are still in many ways left feeling a sense of despair. I have been unable to work due to my cancer for the last six months and, due to complications and some procedures ahead, I do not know when I'll be able to return. I was denied disability (could hardly believe that one), and receive no government assistance. Thus, here I am exposing myself, causing me to face yet another fear, and humbling myself before you. I NEVER thought this would be me and I sincerely pray its NEVER you!
