<div>Hi, My name is John Mosher (Michele's Husband) and I am fundraising for Michele Mosher's recovery from a tragic ski accident that has left her as a quadriplegic.

<div>Michele suffered a tragic ski accident while skiing at Loon Mountain on March 21, 2024. Michele was air lifted via helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon, NH. Emergency surgery was performed just hours after her arrival to stabilize the C3 vertebrae and relieve pressure on her damaged spinal cord. Michele was diagnosed with Quadriplegia as a result of the trauma to her spinal cord. She spent three weeks at Dartmouth being medically stabilized. On April 12th Michele was transferred to the spinal cord unit of Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown, MA. She is currently working hard at regaining what movement she can in her arms, hands, feet and legs. Michele’s discharge date is June 6th; this will be the start of the next leg in her journey of recovery.

<div>We are grateful to have a “normal” health insurance policy that has paid for a good portion of the initial medical services associated with a traumatic spinal cord injury such as Michele’s. The coming year will be critical for Michele to maximize her recovery. While we don’t know exactly what that recovery will look like, we do know that insurance only covers a small portion of the intensive daily physical and occupational therapy needed for optimizing her recovery. Optimizing the first 12 months is critical as this is the time when the nervous system is most capable of rebuilding new pathways. Michele said to me, while still at Dartmouth Hitchcock and just before her transfer to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital; “John, I’m back and I’m ready to fight for it!” We are asking for your support to help raise $100,000 towards the this end.

<div>Michele has spent her adult life as a nurse caring for others. It would seem to be her calling. She spent her first years as a cardiac nurse in a city hospital setting, then when we had Ryley she became a school nurse in our local public school system to maximize the time she could spend with Ryley and our family. When Ryley left for college Michele went back to school and earned a master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner. Michele has been utilizing her NP degree for the past year working with The Lowell Community Health Center, providing care for a richly diverse population. In fact, she is already seeking creative methods to rejoin LCHC and continue her professional care of others. Michele is also a passionate figure skating coach who shares that passion with the youth of our community. Her eagerness to love and help others still shines through, despite the unimaginable situation she finds herself in now. We love her dearly.
