<div>The Miami Nation of Indiana is one of the main tribes that inhabited present day Indiana. We had our Federal Recognition illegally removed in 1897 by the state and to this day are fighting to regain it!

<div>Since we are not Federally recognized yet we have to raise all of our own funds for Tribal operations and needs, as well as maintaining our historic properties! Our tribal complex in Peru Indiana is on the National Historic Registry and is home to our offices and archives that contain some tribal documents and items that are over 200 years old! Along with that, we utilize the building to house our museum that opens soon and will be the only Native American owned museum in the State and one of the few in the Nation! We also own and restored (in 1997) the original schoolhouse built by Chief Meshingomesia in the 1860s, 150 acres in Parke county Indiana that was originally one of our tribal reserves, and three cemeteries in Indiana where our ancestors are buried! But all properties are old, and in the case of the cemeteries have been vandalized over the years, and all are in need of  restoration and repair.
