The House that LOVE built

Donation protected

Jeremiah was born with an incredibly rare chromosomal anomaly that causes numerous medical issues. He was born with Deletion Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Hearing Impairment, Double incontinence, and a Global Delay causing his Mental Age to peak at around 3-4 years of age. All of these disorders and he also has a Mylenation Disorder that causes him to be in pain on a daily basis. Jeremiah is 14 now. He works hard at school, he brings joy to everyone he meets. He is an amazing guy that lives each day to the fullest, despite his struggles. We know what works for 'Miah to get through the day. For example, he needs his hats and head dresses for external cranial pressure. He needs his weighted blankets and his comfy bed. He needs his music and his headphones. Most of all he needs his own space. There were 4 children when we moved into our current home. We have been blessed with two more remarkable children since then. So, we have now outgrown our home. Miah is the size of an adult. He needs more space for his quiet space. He needs a safe haven where the cruelty of the world can not force it's way into our home. He is different, and people can be unkind. He needs a place where no one has any demands of him. In our mobile home, the space is severely limited and the floor plan is incredibly restrictive.
And so, in August, 2016, I purchased a piece of land with the goal of building a home that specifically catered to Miah's special needs. Miah needs his sacred space. He needs to feel truly at HOME in his home and not constantly being rerouted and steered towards another space in the home because our current floor plan doesn't happen to work with a severely disabled childs capabilities. I truly believe Miah can learn to navigate our future home safely and effectively, because the entire design has been designed with HIM in mind. Using my 14 years of experience spent mothering my severely disabled child, I have designed a safe environment for him. We are building on a shoestring budget. We are also building a home that will make as small an eco-foot print as possible. Most importantly, we are building a home that will stay WARM in the winter time, as cold is nauseatingly painful for Miah to deal with. (Our current home, a mobile home, is very hard to keep warm despite being weatherized.)  We will be using composting toilets, a grey water system, solar panels and other green building techniques. We are heating with a propane heater and a wood stove. These will ALL benefit Miah immensely.
It took me three years of constant searching and an obsession with finding land that did not have insane building codes before my husband and I were able to find a parcel of land  that would work for everything we had in mind for Miah. We used everything we had saved to put a down payment on the mortgage. We couldn't be happier with our housing plans. So, despite having certain plans in place, and hoping we can manage to start building on a shoestring budget, we decided we are just going to reach out to people, even though asking for help is so humbling. We are trying to build this home as quickly as possible. Because Miah needs this. Because our entire family needs this. We thank you for your help. We are going to be building a beautiful home, how ever, with Miah's special needs in mind we acknowledge there may be surprise costs. Please Help.
Specific purchases will be: tools,  lumber, wood, roofing, insulation, paint,  stove, propane refrigerator, wood stove, solar lights, but also including, anything that may enable Miah to navigate the home more efficiently.
We would be so incredibly thankful. In fact, for each varying amount of money donated, we plan on putting a chosen (by the donating party) quote of loving words, or even just your name,  on various parts of the home. Be it a tiny quote hidden on an eave, to an entire painting on a wall for larger donations... photos will be plentiful for every act of love that is donated to Miah's House
