Unfortunately our adorable dog, Mia has cancer. We adopted Mia almost 2 years ago from Rescue Tails. She has had hypothyroidism ever since we adopted her, she takes a pill twice daily and gets routine blood checks. The type of cancer she has causes her to have high levels of insulin and dangerously low levels of glucose. She has an insulinoma tumor on her pancreas. Surgery is our best option. We don't want to risk having the cancer spread and she cannot go on like this. The normal levels of insulin for a dog her size is 100 and the lowest it has dropped to is 21, very close to seizing. She has been getting honey and food every 2 hours to keep her from seizing, but this is only a temporary fix. After surgery, Mia will need to undergo insulin panel blood tests every month to make sure it doesn't reoccur. Surgery, monthly tests, and hospital aftercare are unfortunately very expensive, on the high end it would be about $8000 in total. We've seen 3 different vets already and between those visits and testing we've already spent close to $2500. We were told $1000 for the CT which is required prior to surgery so they know exactly where to go to resect the tumor, up to $4200 for the surgery, and $1500 for each day she needs to be kept in the ICU. We love our Mia so much that there is no question that we're going to go ahead with the surgery. We're looking for any help we can get financially. Every donation helps. Please help us keep our cute little Mia happy and healthy.
