Mending Tula: Help us Support our Girl

Our eight year old daughter Tula is in hospital recovering from surgery on her spine to correct her scoliosis. For four long weeks leading up to the operation, she went through halo traction to pull her crooked spine into a better shape. This involved her having a device screwed into her skull under general anaesthetic to which increasingly heavy weights were attached, which pulled on her head day and night. The 9-hr operation in her spine was a success, and the rods that have been put into her back will grow as she does, which should mean no more invasive surgery will be required in future, and she is recovering well. As I write this, she is into her fourth week at the children's rehab centre in Bayeux, where she has resumed her schooling in an effort to catch up with the many weeks she has missed over these long months in hospital. Our finances have been extremely stretched for a long time now: with three other children at home and one of us staying full time with Tula both before her operation and up until her transfer afterwards, neither of us have been able to work full time for nearly three months now. Stressed and exhausted, it has been a struggle to keep up. This campaign was started back in February of this year, when Tula's operation was first arranged, pre-pandemic. We wanted to buy a family car, after being ripped off by a secondhand purchase which we were forced to scrap. Now we just need help to get through these last weeks until Tula comes home. Please help us if you can: with neither of us able to work whilst we care for Tula as well as our other girls, we are facing a dismal Christmas on top of all of the other issues we are juggling.
