Melissa Morrison was diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic syndrome) bone marrow cancer  on April 29, 2014. Months later it progressed into Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She has been in and out of hospitals since April 8, 2014. Melissa was scheduled to start the bone marrow transplant process on December 16th and have the transplant on December 23rd but unfortunately started having really bad pain again and was admitted back to the hospital for testing on December 9th.

Melissa is from Rockville, MD and is a 1997 graduate of Rockville High School. She has lived in Damascus with her husband, Sam (Wheaton Class of '96), and two kids for over 12 years. Her son, Kyle, is 9 and was diagnosed at 2 with autism. He attends Damascus Elementary and is in the 4th grade. Her daughter, Katelyn, is in the 6th grade at Baker Middle School. Up until she got sick Melissa worked for Fitness 4 You and a local real estate appraiser. She stayed very busy between working, working out and spending time with her kids.

Melissa is currently at the University of Maryland Medical Center Hospital in Baltimore waiting for her biopsy results. Please consider helping her and her family as she fights this terrible disease.
