Money for Miles - Melbourn to Melbourne

Dear everyone,

We are delighted to let you know that we had a fantastic reaction and a flurry of donations following the offer of pound for pound matched funding this week up until the target was reached, and we have now surpassed our £10,481 total!! The children have also walked more than 10,481 miles this term.

Thank you for all so so much for your support this term with our fundraising and helping us to achieve this amazing goal. We will order the Chromebook laptops at the earliest opportunity so the children can start using them as soon as possible.

Our GoFundMe page will remain open for a while and 100% of any donations we receive from now on will be donated to the school to spend on other much needed things for the children.

Happy Christmas and thanks once again.

The PTFA Committee

============================

Over the years the PTFA have raised significant funds which have paid for items the children would not have had without their support, for example the outdoor play equipment and new KS2 toilets. The combination of bad weather for fireworks last year and the cancellation (due to lockdown) of our main fundraiser of the year, the summer fayre, means that the PTFA are significantly down on anticipated funding. Without intervention, this is likely to have a significant impact on the quality of our provision. The computers in our ICT room are in desperate need of replacing for the children to be able to meet the requirements of the computing curriculum. The school finances do not allow us to buy 30 new computers and the PTFA are currently not able to help us. Consequently, we are asking for your support.

We would like to raise £10,481 to pay for a class set of Chromebook laptops, a charging trolley and the associated licences etc. This would allow us to deliver the computing curriculum in classrooms.

“A high-quality computing education equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world”. DfE.

Many of our children have been less physically active during lockdown so we are going to run for our money! Our plan is to collectively run the distance to Melbourne Australia, that is 10,481 miles. Can our community beat the children to raise £10,481 before we reach our goal? That is a mile for each pound! The children will be clocking up the miles through the running of their golden miles at school. Our target is to ‘reach’ Melbourne by Christmas!

With approximately 400 members of our community so this is roughly £25 to raise each. Please remember to add Gift Aid if you are eligible to do so, so that we so that we receive an additional 25% on top of your donation at no extra cost to you. Could you please help us reach our target by donating and sharing our gofundme.com/f/ Melbourn-Primary-School-PTFA-Money-for-Miles page with your friends and family? (GoFundMe defaults to you paying a 10% 'tip' to them just below the donation amount. If you don't want to pay this, please change it to 'Other' and enter a value of £0.) Watch our miles travel the world on our running map on the school website! Thank you in advance for your support.
