Hearts For Honduras Mission Trip

Hello Family and Friends!
I am so excited to share with you an amazing opportunity I've been given. On July 21-28, I will be traveling with a group of volunteers from New Jersey to Honduras to serve at The Hearts for Honduras School in La Entrada.
On this trip, I will be able to share my God-given talents and help native teachers through a co-teaching experience at the school. The Hearts for Honduras School was created 19 years ago to support the at-risk youth of La Entrada, Honduras and to offer an alternative path to families and the community there. In Honduras, public education is not free. Parents must pay a fee for their children to attend school. Therefore, children from the poorest of families are trapped in a vicious cycle of poverty and illiteracy. The Hearts for Honduras School was started by a local school teacher who wanted to ensure that all the children of their town would have access to an education. The children at the Hearts for Honduras School are provided with an education, a nutritious meal each day, vitamins, and basic medical and dental care in a loving, Christian environment.
This mission trip is near and dear to my heart, not only for the value of education it helps to instill in the lives of those involved, but also because I've had the privilege to teach a little girl who was born in this community. With my background of studying Spanish in college, each school year I request the incoming first grade students who are "English Language Learners," and I have become so passionate about bridging the gap that occurs due to a language barrier. I am beyond excited to continue to improve upon these skills through this experience, all while helping other educators grow in their teaching practices.
I feel so blessed to have been given this opportunity; a mission trip has always been a dream of mine. More so, it is a real dream come true to have been guided to a trip that combines so many of my passions. Please consider helping this dream become a reality for me by supporting me with a donation of any size! I must raise $1,400 by July to go on this mission trip. That cost will go towards airfare, lodging, food, and ministry expenses while in Honduras. I would love to be able to raise even more to donate! I am so incredibly grateful for any help you can give and I can't wait to share with you all about my experience!
