Nepal Orphans Home

 I am writing to tell you about my exciting opportunity to go to Kathmandu, Nepal this November! God has made drastic changes in my heart and my life and I know that He is leading me in this direction and has been preparing me for this season. I will be in Nepal for two months, from November to January and I wanted to share this exciting opportunity with you.
            I will be teaming up with Nepal Orphans Home, a non-religious organization created in 2005 to answer the need for the hurting and homeless children of Nepal. Papa's House, as its locally known, provides for the children's basic needs of food, shelter, and clothing as well as their education and health care, and administers to their emotional needs with love and compassion. Papa's House allows children to grow up in a nurturing environment. The mission of NOH is not just to rescue children from abject poverty, but also to enable them to develop and realize their potentials.
             Papa's House cares for 116 children amongst 4 orphanages in Dhapasi, a small suburb of the capital, Kathmandu. As a volunteer I have the opportunity to work in any of those homes as well as various associated homes and villages in proximity. The volunteers provide services to the Nepali people that include: offering morning and evening tuition classes to rescued trafficked women and children, teaching crafts to single and handicapped women, helping out in the kitchens, assisting in medical clinics, offering yoga and music instruction to children, leading writing workshops, tutoring Papa's House children, introducing healthier and more environmentally sustainable briquette ovens to villagers of Dumrikharka, teaching classes throughout the country, guiding women-only NGO's in the construction and maintenance of websites and improving English language articles by the same, as well as shadowing and assisting local journalists, amongst other possibilities.         
          There is an opportunity to change lives, not only the people of Nepal but my own. In order for me to go I need the support of my friends and family, please prayerfully consider standing with me financially and spiritually. I need to raise $3,500 total to cover my transportation to Nepal, food and lodging. I will be traveling with 3 other girls, friends I met during my time in Alaska, and we would all appreciate your prayers during this exciting time in our lives.  All other donations will go to the children of NOH.
          This is not an organized mission trip, it is just group of girls desiring an opportunity to do more and to help others.  Due to that fact the Nepal Orphan's Home does not have a site to donate to I have set up a donation link on http://www.gofundme.com/Mel-NepalOrphansHome. While money is important, it comes in a distant second to my need for your prayer support.
