Meghan DeGroot's Breast Cancer Fund

Donation protected
Meghan Saunders DeGroot was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer on October, 6, 2017.  According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation about 10-20% of breast cancers are found to be triple-negative.  Triple negative breast cancer can be more aggressive and difficult to treat than other forms of breast cancer. Also, the cancer is more likely to spread and recur. Based on this diagnosis, Meghan flew to Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA for a second opinion, where they outlined the following treatment plan for her: she will undergo 5 months of ACT Chemotherapy at home in MT, she will then have lumpectomy surgery at Dana Farber in Boston and then finish with radiation back home in MT.

For anyone who knows Meghan, you know what a caring, giving person she is which is one of the reasons she became a Nurse.  To advance her career in helping others, she was enrolled in Graduate School to become a Nurse Practitioner (NP) and would have graduated in early 2019, but had to put school on hold at this time.  She has spent her job and her life helping others, but now it is Meghan who needs our help.

Meghan is an amazing person, sister, wife, friend and Mom.  She treasures her relationships with all the people in her life.  She will fight this with all her strength and the support of her network to ensure she is around to see her son Duncan (8 years old) grow-up.

Meghan has been unable to work since her diagnosis due to almost daily doctor's appointments and travel to Boston.  Medical bills are already accumulating, and will be an even bigger burden in the new year when she will have to pay her high deductible insurance plan's out-of-pocket portion.

Her need for money is immediate as she has already begun Chemotherapy. We are setting the Goal at $20,000 to cover her 2017 and 2018 out-of-pocket insurance responsibilities, as well as travel expenses and monthly bills that her salary covered for the family.  Meghan, Jake and Duncan are so thankful for any amount to help alleviate this unexpected financial burden this diagnosis is putting on them.
