Meeka Needs Surgery!
Meeka aka White Lightning, aka Meek the Freak, aka Schmeeka is a 6 year old lab/greyhound mix that I rescued from the Oregon Humane Society 3 years ago. Meeka has been the highlight of my life ever since. Anyone that has met Meeka understands how much of a goofy blessing she is. Last month, I noticed that she was straining to urinate and had blood in her urine. I took her to the vet and it was determined that she had a UTI. The vet prescribed her a course of antibiotics and a probiotic, and it went away for a few weeks then came back again. This has happened not twice, but three times now. After several hundred dollars out of pocket for exams, lab tests and medications, the vet now suspects that she has bladder stones or a tumor. The vet is highly concerned that without the proper treatment, it could be life threatening. Meeka is needing an abdominal ultrasound done by a board certified radiologist ASAP that will cost around $800. Pending the findings of the ultrasound, Meeka will either need laser surgery to break up the bladder stones, or a more invasive surgery to have a tumor removed. The surgery will cost anywhere from $1000- $2000. This comes at a terrible time financially right around the holidays. However, Meeka is in discomfort and needs to have this procedure done sooner than later. I am asking for any donations big or small to help offset the enormous cost I will face.
