Meagan's Transplant Fund

Our 25-year-old best friend Meagan was diagnosed with Chronic Hereditary Pancreatitis in 2010. In 2011 she underwent a Total Pancreatectomy with Auto Islet Cell Transplantation and immediately after she had a bowel obstruction surgically corrected (to put it simply her entire pancreas was surgically removed). Over the past four years Meagan has been hospitalized over 30 times for malnutrition, sepsis, uncontrolled pain, dehydration, diabetic ketoacidosis, and brittle diabetes.
Meagan is now eagerly awaiting a life saving pancreatic transplant. She is currently at the top of the list in our region and is in the final stages of being listed at Indiana University. In the meantime, the transplant team at Yale-New Haven Hospital is in the process of petitioning for urgent status for Meagan's transplant. Urgent status is typically very hard to get approved for pancreas transplants, however, if Meagan is granted urgent status, she will be offered all of the pancreas organ offers before anyone else.
Although Meagan never feels well she continues to work as a nanny and attend Southern Connecticut State University in hopes to one day become either an APRN or a physician. Meagan hopes to eventually have a successful medical career so she can continue to spread awareness for diabetes and organ donation. As you can imagine Meagan's medical bills are constantly adding up, any donations to help get Meagan through this trying time would be greatly appreciated!
