If you know Meagan, you probably love her because she's awesome! And you probably also know that she was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Multiple sclerosis is a lifelong chronic disease that effects the nerve cells of the brain and spinal cord, causing a wide range of neurological symptoms. By the time Meagan was diagnosed, she'd already been experiencing the impacts on her health. Since then, the condition has had a major effect in her life, causing her to dramatically re-think and re-arrange the ways she cares for her body, her health and her future. Although she's been trying various treatment options, they always come with their own set of negative impacts on her health and well-being. But Meagan's a force to reckon with and she's not giving up on her quest to live well despite her diagnosis. Which is where you come in!
Last year our amazing friend Rel told us about the Gawler Foundation's "Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis" retreat "“ a program aimed at working with people with MS. And while there's no cure for this disease, the program uses holistic approaches with the goal of halting the progression of the condition and helping to empower people with MS in finding management strategies that work best for each individual. Rel had attended Gawler's retreat for cancer and had a sincere belief in the Gawler Foundation's goal to help people find within themselves the power to face their illness with understanding, hope and a positive outlook. She started scheming to fund-raise to bring Meagan to Australia for the MS retreat, and I'm picking up where she left off.
So how 'bout it, folks? Let's help Meagan overcome MS!
The fundraiser hopes to fully cover the cost of the MS program as well as Meagan's airfare to/from Australia. She wouldn't be able to make it otherwise because of ongoing health costs and living expenses, so we're relying on this fundraiser to make it happen. Just think, your contribution could be helping someone you know (or don't know) find a way to live well despite a life-changing disease, so please be generous and help us meet our goal!
