McGillvery Bushfire Relief Fund

We're raising money for our family who have lost their home, farm, livestock, and pets in the devastating fire that tore through their home out of Garvoc on the 18th March 2018.

There is currently no insurance to cover the huge costs of starting out again, given drought and low return for their wool over the last few years having made it out of reach.  The farm had been hit by the Ash Wednesday Fires in 1983 and this time was even worse.

They are kind, gentle, hard working people who have now lost everything.  My aunty Heather is currently battling cancer, and they are facing starting out all over again.   My uncle Angus is 65 and they have 5 children, aged between 8-22.   They would not ask for any support.

Given the complexity of everything that lies ahead we have started this page to offer an avenue for people to offer what support they can.  Practical help will be needed ongoing for awhile, and they are currently in temporary accommodation through the church.  Any financial help will hopefully assist them in the weeks, months, and years going forwards, as they decide what that will look like for them as a family now.

Thank you
