Please help us help our mom!

Our story begins in May 2014 when our mother, Susan McCourt was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. Her treatment plan was 8 months of chemo. Starting in July she began chemo treatments every other week.

Upon her second treatment, they noticed that her white blood cell count was too low and had to postpone her treatment until the following week. She then learned 24 hours after each chemo appointment that she would then have to go back and receive a shot that would help boost her white blood cell count up so she could continue treatments each week.

In October half way through her treatment plan. She was retested to see how well the chemo was working in fighting the cancer. We were all relieved when she got the good news it was doing its job and was she was improving!  Through all her treatments she has her good days and her not so good days but she tried to remain active and independent as she could. With her immune system being comprised she was very cautious and would always protect herself.

On November 27th Thanksgiving day she started to feel sick. Her breathing became labored over the weekend so my Aunt rushed her to Good Samartin Hospital. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and her health failed quickly. She was placed in ICU where she has been for the past 2 weeks. She has been in a medically induced coma and paralytic  state since her arrival and is breathing through the help of breathing machines.  She has been diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, which is hardening of the lung tissue making it hard for her to breath on her own and for her to get enough oxygen.   Doctors have told us that she is making some progress but it will take time and patience and that her recovery will be slow.

We are praying for her and standing by her side each and every day. My
Father does not talk to my brother and I about money often because he does not want us to worry but I know their health insurance did not cover all the costs of the chemo and medications, costing them over $600 per month. I know dad has no more vacation or sick time left at work so each and every day he is out he is not getting paid. Between moms medical bills and day to day life bills I am not sure how much longer he is going to be able to make ends meet. During this time I'd love for him and our family to not worry about financials and the cost of moms treatment and be able to focus on taking care of mom and helping her to get home. Any little bit that friends and family can donate would help and be greatly appreciated. Please help us.... We need a Christmas Miracle!

Love always,
